“Aoi Hotel Kyoto Room 301/402”
The spot is unbeatable—just a short walk to Takashimaya, Daimaru, Don Quijote, Teramachi & Nishiki Market, Gion, shops, restaurants, and several train lines. The staff were super helpful during check‑in and check‑out and always answered our calls on the reception phone. Room 301 felt huge, with a fantastic view and a private deck overlooking the Kamo River. The big bathroom had two sinks, and there was a second powder room near the entrance. A large walk‑in closet kept our two open suitcases out of the way. The in‑room washer/dryer was a lifesaver (laundry soap included), though one load takes about 3 to 4 hours. The tatami/tea room was a nice touch, and a Bose speaker played jazz when we arrived. The bedroom was quiet and comfy, with pajamas provided. Room 401 was a spacious studio overlooking a small street below, not terribly noisy—earplugs help if you’re sensitive. It had two twin beds, a washer/dryer, microwave, refrigerator, etc. It lacks the “wow” features of 301, but it’s still nicely appointed and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay at Aoi and would definitely return to either room. Room 301 could use an extra towel hanger; the only spot is the horizontal handle on the shower door that fits one towel. Room 401 would benefit from blackout curtains.
