“Styr unna, måtte bestille annet hotell.”
When I booked the stay on March 24, I quickly received a notice that they couldn’t charge my credit card. They said the stay would be cancelled if I didn’t register a card they could charge within 24 hours. I registered a new card and got no further notice of a problem. On July 5, well before our arrival, I texted and was confirmed the stay wasn’t cancelled, so I assumed everything was fine. We arrived at the stunning house around 6 p.m. but the door was locked. We called the number on the door several times, but were told the office was closed. If there was a “crisis” we could go to the office in Texas (another state); there would be a number on the door we could call. I sent several messages in the app and after a long time was told that earlier that day they hadn’t been able to charge my credit card, so that’s why we couldn’t get access. They should have informed us during opening hours, not when we were standing outside. The listing showed the stay as confirmed, so I assumed everything was okay. I’ve traveled the world and never had such poor communication. They should have told us much earlier that there was still a payment issue. When they late in the evening asked me to send credit card details, I was no longer interested in paying a lot for a stay that would be very short, so I chose to book Grand Hotel Natchez at one‑third the price. Customer service was terrible. Renting a house in a town where you have no one to help guests is a risky sport. It’s crucial to have good communication well in advance. This host completely failed on that front.
