The location was great, the breakfast and evening meal were excellent, and the staff were very friendly. Unfortunately, only one of us could take a quick hot shower in the morning; the other partner was left with only cold water. We wouldn’t choose the attic room again because the sloping roof makes it impossible to stand up in the shower.

The property sits on the sea front with great views, and it’s just a 20‑minute walk to town or a short walk to nearby Sandsend. The hotel is clean, the staff are friendly, and there’s a bar.

The breakfast was lovely, though the tables were compact. Being in the loft, there are many stairs and no lift. The bath has a mixer shower over the tub and no screen, so you can’t stand up. The bar service was minimal; because of the wait I ended up going elsewhere.

The accommodation was comfortable and clean, and a two‑night stay over a weekend meant we got a good night’s sleep. We found street parking opposite the hotel and the hotel gave us a paid permit. It was easy to walk into town and onto the beach, with great sea views from our room. Breakfast was great, and all the staff were welcoming and friendly. I would recommend it.
