“Piacevole e Consigliato”
We stayed nine days at Kalimera Mare. The property is about ten minutes from Kardamena and forty minutes from Kos Town, in a truly quiet area with no external noise; we really liked the location. We rented a car at the airport, which was essential given the distances mentioned. I recommend a car over a scooter or buggy because Greece is very windy and the best beaches are on rough, dusty roads. The staff are highly prepared and ready to meet any request or resolve any problem, truly exceptional. We booked the “Half‑board” package, which includes breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was rich with sweet and savory items, all Italian‑approved. We only ate dinner three times out of nine nights, and it was also just adequate from an Italian perspective. Buying a bottle of water and a cold cappuccino for 6/7 euros at the kiosk gives you access to two loungers and a beach umbrella. The rocky beach has crystal‑clear water, but there is only one row of umbrellas, which I’m not sure would satisfy everyone in peak season; in early September we always found a spot. There are also two pools, which I can’t say much about because we didn’t use them. A billiard table costs 2 euros in the common area. The staff offer a clean beach towel for 1 euro, and once returned you can get another for the same price. Kalimera Mare also lets you take a shower after check‑out before leaving the hotel. The only drawbacks I noticed are minor: the gym is very dated with few dumbbells and some equipment not working, though it’s clean. The rooms are very old and need renovation. The bathroom lacks a bidet (essential for us Italians!), and there is no shower, only a bathtub.
