We arrived in the morning to pick up a forgotten jacket and were wowed by the lobby view. But when we got there, the hotel was closed, dark, and empty. We waited about 15 minutes, thinking it was abandoned, until a man opened the doors for us. Inside, the place was filthy, with mold on the walls and swarms of spiders and flies. The room was passable but smelled like cheap air freshener. With no one else around, I felt uneasy staying alone and decided to leave.
“Würde ich nicht nochmal machen”
The view is nice and the staff are friendly. I didn’t complain on site because I’d read the reviews beforehand, but I still wanted my own impression. The accommodation was cheap and there weren’t many alternatives. I don’t want to leave a bad rating, especially in a place that relies on tourist money, but if so many bad reviews existed before, why hasn’t anything changed? Cleanliness is really important, even if most locals aren’t living in luxury. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned at all; the trash can was emptied, but everything else was filthy, not just from the previous guest. I had to improvise cleaning myself. The shower water barely ran, so the bathroom flooded quickly. It would have been nice if the balcony windows were clean so I could enjoy the view even with the doors closed. For some strange reason, there were a lot of weird bugs. Because the top room has an open hatch, insects naturally fly in. The wardrobe wasn’t clean and was mostly unusable; the door was loose and almost fell out.
The view of Mount Batur is amazing.
When we reached the room, there were many flies and beetles on the floor and bed. It hadn’t been properly cleaned.
The view is stunning—great for a single night. The door kept clacking at night, and the breakfast wasn’t recommended.
