The old shepherd’s cottage, or something similar, was renovated into a rustic chalet with a lovely mix of stone and wood, and it was very comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well equipped, with plenty of supplies, even enough coffee pods for our whole stay, oil, condiments, and more. The location was perfect for morning walks, offering a stunning view of the countryside and mountains, and there were semi‑wild horses trotting around the house. The restaurant right next door was a definite bonus: they have a key double, the front‑desk lady who runs the place is incredibly friendly, speaks French, and the food is excellent—especially the beef grillades, which are amazing and inexpensive. Because the house is isolated (the nearest village is at least 15 minutes by car), it’s a great option if you don’t want to eat out all the time. The only issue was that we only booked two of the three rooms, so the lower one (the house has two levels with a slope, giving it two entrances—one on the road side and one on the countryside side) was a bit grim: it had no windows and opened onto a small kitchen‑dining area that also lacked a real window, the front door acting as a window, which was fine on sunny days but not when it was cold and rainy. Communication about where to find the keys could have been better; we were told the host would be present but he wasn’t, and the restaurant next door had to point us to the keys, so a heads‑up would have helped. Finally, there was no Wi‑Fi at all and very poor connectivity, which might be an issue for some, but the nearby restaurant has good Wi‑Fi, so you can just go there for a coffee if you need to stay online (our daughter, who was working remotely for part of the stay, spent an entire day on the terrace there).

We were initially impressed by the property's location and comfort, but unfortunately, our stay was marred by a lack of firewood and matches for the fireplace. The house was freezing, and we had to purchase firewood and matches the next day to warm it up. Despite this, we were pleased with the overall experience.

We fell in love with the beautiful house, which was incredibly welcoming and equipped with everything we needed to relax in the midst of nature. The surrounding area offered numerous hiking trails, and we enjoyed exploring the local scenery. However, the internet connection was weak, and we recommend downloading maps in advance. We also appreciated the nearby restaurant, "Val de Poldros," and the nearby town of Lobbios for shopping.

We adored the peaceful village where the house was situated, which offered a serene atmosphere despite the lively Santo António festival. The nearby restaurant and the sound of horses passing by the front door created a magical experience. The house itself was very comfortable and well-equipped. However, our stay was all too brief, and we're already planning our next visit to spend more time in this idyllic setting.
