Sandrine is a very kind and welcoming host. The superior room with terrace gives a spectacular sea view (with a wonderful sunrise) and a charming glimpse of the islands of Pianosa and Capraia. A big plus is the private internal parking, comfortable and closed at night: for motorbike travelers, knowing the bike is safe brings great peace of mind. The only downside is that breakfast isn’t served, although there’s a kettle with instant coffee and tea in the room, and a convenient shared fridge in the corridor for food and drinks. To reach bars, restaurants and supermarkets you have to walk about 10 minutes to the village of Santa Severa: the walk is doable, but you need to pay a bit of attention along the road, especially in the evenings. The cleanliness leaves much to be desired and the décor feels like a fond tribute to the ’80s (unfortunately lacking the vintage charm, but with all its wear). The beds and pillows seem designed by an osteopath looking for new clients, and even the exterior could use a bit more love. The lack of Wi‑Fi is a minor detail, while the absence of air conditioning is noticeable, especially since the room gets very hot. The property has untapped potential, but it ends up a 6 because of the low price. We knew what we were getting into, but a little extra care would have made a real difference.
