The hotel's location offered breathtaking views, and we appreciated the convenience of being able to walk to nearby attractions.
My room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was truly excellent.

Food was excellent with a wide range of breakfast and dinner options, and the dining staff were friendly and accommodating, but the hotel was slightly off the beaten track if you didn't have a car, although the bus service was good.
“Wonderful birthday weekend”
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Hillthwaite Hotel, where the beautiful setting offered amazing views, the atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were welcoming and attentive; breakfast and dinner were first class, delicious, and beautifully presented, and we were especially touched by the thoughtful birthday card and the lovely decorations in our room upon arrival—a truly lovely gesture! We would happily recommend Hillthwaite Hotel to anyone visiting the Lake District and hope to return again! ❤️
“Fantastic - the move to room 16 rescued our stay”
Breakfasts were excellent, and special thanks to Claire, Louise, and especially Santa for making a difference in the bar and restaurant, and a huge shout‑out to Joanne at the front desk for rescuing our weekend with a last‑minute room change. Honestly, very little to complain about, but it would help to know which rooms do and don’t have baths; the lovely photos of the premium rooms with baths on the booking page raise expectations, and not all rooms are the same, which can lead to unintended disappointment. Also, the internal lighting in the wardrobe of room 16 would be welcome—when you open the wardrobe doors, they block out all light from the room, making it hard to see what you’re doing or read the safe numbers because they’re not back‑lit.
The view was nice and the restaurant was nice, nothing else really stood out.
“Really nice experience, resteraunt staff were unbelievable!”
The staff were really friendly and the restaurant was first class, but the location felt a bit out of the way.
