“Super schöne & ruhige Unterkunft, mit einzigartigem Charme”

A truly peaceful place, uniquely decorated and one of the most beautiful spots I’ve stayed at. I’d recommend it to anyone who values a quiet, secluded getaway. There’s a small pool that stays warm enough for evening swims. The rooms are huge and simply furnished. A sweet, calm windhound wanders around but never feels intrusive. With only a handful of rooms, the property never feels crowded. Breakfast is simple, though I never tried it, and there’s a kitchen you can use. Plenty of seating areas are available for relaxing or working. The only hiccup was that payment had to be made via a link before arrival; onsite payment isn’t possible. When I arrived and paid online, the manager was initially confused and rather unfriendly, but once he confirmed my payment everything was fine and he became very courteous. Still, the payment system feels suboptimal, especially for last‑minute bookings.

“Super schönes, ruhiges Hotel, um ein paar Tage zu entspannen! :)”

We found this hotel to be one of the best during our stay—serene, beautifully furnished, and spacious rooms. They offer sports classes, yoga, and a fitness room. I enjoyed a fantastic massage in the spa area, and there are also cosmetic treatments. The pool is huge and lovely (about 130 m long?) and we loved it, plus a second smaller pool across the street by the water. The beach is right next to us. The food is excellent, with a wide selection and a large breakfast buffet in the morning. The staff were super friendly and helpful. In the evenings, on request, you can dine outdoors under a big tree with lights—romantic and more private. The dining area overlooks the lake. The only downside is the location is a bit remote, but an Uber can be easily ordered. In the evenings, some crows gather around the pool, but that didn’t bother us and the staff kept trying to scare them away.

The property is beautiful, in a good spot (just a 2‑3 minute scooter ride to Ahangama’s main street), and has a nice pool and garden for relaxing. The bed was very comfortable, the staff were extremely kind, and the sweetest resident dog, Patchy, was truly a highlight! However, an uncovered outdoor shower area was not ideal, especially since it rained heavily during our stay and the entire bathroom flooded. The owners might want to install a skylight to protect the bathroom from rain and critters (big lizards crawled in from the roof) while letting in sunlight. Also, the bathroom door didn’t fully shut or lock, which I urge management to fix for better privacy. On a separate note, for the price, we would have liked breakfast included. Although yoghurt, tea/coffee sachets were available, we were not fully satisfied with the value for money, especially since similar places around the area offered breakfast with comparable facilities. With these small improvements, the guest experience at Merchant House could rise from good to exceptional!

“Loved everything about his place . Highly recommend”

Wow, what a beautiful place to stay. Down a quiet lane, within walking distance to the beach and shops, this spot is a must‑visit. The rooms are huge, clean, and comfortable. The staff are incredibly sweet and helpful, feeling like family, and the gorgeous Patty (the house dog) always waits at the gate or greets you when you leave your room in the morning. We loved her. The pool is huge and lovely for cooling off after a day at the beach or exploring. The gardens are tranquil and the décor gorgeous.

Lovely accommodation close to the city center yet still very calm. Breakfast offers yoghurt, granola, and fresh fruits. The staff are super friendly. The only suggestion would be to provide mosquito nets.
