“In the heart of the hustle and bustle. Right by all the sites. Great.”
Location, location, location. The beautiful 1860s building still feels very much in theme, very relaxed, and I highly recommend it. Nothing to mention.

The festival course let me wander out to see the Perahera parade and then slip back into my room repeatedly, which made for a pleasant viewing experience, but the shower pressure was weak, the room lacked a TV so I got bored, the humidity was high—probably a local issue—and the lock was extremely stiff, likely impossible for a Japanese woman to operate, plus the door knob was coming off.

The colonial English style was meticulously maintained, a real trip back in time; the central location was perfect for watching the Esala Perahera, and there was nothing negative.

A real time‑travel experience, the staff were very friendly, breakfast was delightful, but the English was poor and the restaurant could be skipped.

The heritage vibe of the hotel felt like stepping back in time, we ate dinner at the restaurant and enjoyed old photos in a separate dining hall, the staff helped with our bags to the second floor, the meal was lovely, and the courtyard was nice for an evening drink; the location was great in the centre and only a 5‑minute walk from the Tooth Relic Temple, but a few features need restoration and a thorough clean, the property could use some TLC but it adds to the old‑world feel.
