I’d love to write a positive review because I always try to find the good in things, but this time I can’t. The only positives of this room, which can’t even be called an apartment, are the friendly manager, the cleanliness (though it would be good to check corners for spider webs, which are present and large), a very comfortable and large bed, free parking in the internal courtyard, a short walk to the historic center, and a bakery with delicious pastries right next door. I’ll start with the most important issue: this room should not be offered for booking until the owner removes the mold that has been present due to poor ventilation. The mold is visible on the walls near the entrance and in the bathroom, and you can even smell it when you enter the room, which is a clear health risk for guests. The second problem is that the room is directly opposite a busy street and is not sound‑proofed in any way; you can hear all the traffic, and sometimes the walls are thinner, sometimes thicker, but here you can clearly hear conversations of people walking on the sidewalk. The key for the entrance door only opens it; you cannot lock it from the inside or outside (you can’t turn the key in the lock). From the outside there is no normal knob, so without a key you can’t open the door, but for me it’s enough to put anything in the lock and turn it to open the door when guests are absent. Another point: it’s great that the owner provides a coffee machine, but why did he think it was a good idea to give guests plastic single‑use cups instead of two small espresso cups? The owner also provides normal cutlery, but it’s dirty. In the bathroom, the sink and bidet lack a drain plug, and there is mold on the walls and grout (as mentioned earlier). Finally, the shower only has a rain shower head. I understand that whoever equipped the bathroom hates women and decided to omit a small shower head to force women to wet their hair during every shower (there are no shower caps). The last issue is that Wi‑Fi didn’t work at all during our stay (two nights). Thankfully we had our own phone internet and could handle business matters. All of these things could be improved; it just takes willingness and honesty towards guests.

The spot is very close to the Sassi, even though it isn’t inside them. The fridge was missing due to a temporary problem.

The bed was the best we’ve had in three weeks of traveling in Puglia! The room we stayed in had an adjoining door.

This is a very interesting apartment, excellently renovated, spread over three levels: living room, kitchen, bathroom, loft with a bed. Extremely elegant. About 800 m from Matera’s center, and all points of interest are easily reachable. Spotless cleanliness thanks to Mrs Anna, who ran the place and was present for every need throughout my stay. Nothing to report.
