What really blew me away was the location—just a few minutes’ walk from the long beach, with restaurants and bars all nearby. The gentleman who greeted us wasn’t the owner but a very kind and helpful person. The apartment had no parking; finding a paid spot was hard because they were always full. Even more absurd were the locked kitchen and bedroom furniture, the locked freezer that we needed, and a window with bars and a mosquito net that was also locked—so we couldn’t even dry a towel; it felt like a jail.
