The hallway and interior were spotless, with large oil paintings scattered around, giving it a painter’s house vibe, and the food was superb. Walking to the inn takes an hour, but there’s a bus stop in front of the inn, so you can time it to reach Kitami Station easily. Both the proprietress and the senior proprietress were friendly; they seem to enjoy sumo, and there are hand‑written notes and other items on the calendar for those who like them. The black lacquer carvings and other displays are interesting, and the senior proprietress even escorted me to the door.
