I appreciated the friendliness and availability of the staff. I understand it’s a hostel and you shouldn’t expect hotel services, but the cold and the curtains that don’t block light made it hard to sleep because of the noise from the neighbors. Young people in a hostel, and I’ve been that way when I was young, but the lack of carpet even in the corridors makes everything very noisy, doors slamming… maybe I was unlucky.

The accommodation was very central, close to several museums and galleries I visited, and easily accessible by metro, bus, and train. There was a Lidl right next door and another supermarket on the opposite street, plus some restaurants and vegan cafés that I liked a lot, all close to the hostel. The hostel had a super friendly atmosphere and professional staff, and the elevator was great for when you arrive with luggage. The room was very comfortable; I stayed in a single room with a private toilet and had everything I needed (towels, hair dryer). I would stay here again. I didn’t like hearing people running in the corridor, speaking loudly, and sometimes they hit my door hard and made a lot of noise even after midnight. This happened on two nights; the rest of the nights were very calm and I slept very well. Otherwise, I only have positives.

“Ich bin genügsam, aber hier passte der Preis nicht zur Leistung”

The location was great, right near Anhalter Bahnhof, and the place was surprisingly clean; the beds were already set up, there was a iron, and the room warmed up nicely. However, you pay 80 € for a room (no private bathroom) and there isn’t even a towel included—no towel to borrow either, so you have to buy one for 5 €, and it’s the cheapest polyester thing that doesn’t even dry properly. The main guests are school trips, so it gets noisy at night, and the staff made no effort to quiet it down after 22 :00. Their German was barely adequate and they seemed only semi‑motivated overall. On the day of departure the floor toilet was clogged; instead of fixing it quickly, they just locked it for hours. The shower was freezing because they apparently preferred to open the window even though ventilation was available. About 100 m away, a building is being demolished, so the noise from 07:30 to 17:00 is constant.

I really liked the location, easy to catch public transport, and the rooms were good. I didn’t dislike anything, but I think the bathrooms could be a bit more organized and the elevator is small and smells a bit.
