“Decent. Needs work.”
The resort’s old‑world charm shows in its architecture, and the food was good with attentive staff. However, the age of the property meant insects were everywhere around the room, bathroom, and poolside. Mosquito nets were stuck to the windows with Velcro, which I didn’t expect at a high‑rated place, and they were dirty; I had to take them off to close the windows for the AC. In some spots the Velcro had come loose, suggesting the nets weren’t maintained or replaced for a while. The windows were damp and hard to shut, and one even opened partially at night, which was worrisome. The trail around the property was pleasant and added to the experience, but it was also muddy and not well kept. That might be intentional and part of the character, but at this price I’d expect better upkeep. Overall, the setting is lovely and the potential is high, but the maintenance level doesn’t match the rating and cost.
