The location is nice and the owner is accommodating, though he tends to be a bit controlling (“halt, stop…”). Overall, the accommodation was very uncomfortable: the owner was in poor health, wore the same clothes every day, and smelled strongly of urine. Everything was 1970s style, even the towels, and the beds had big holes that were unsuitable for sleeping or for paying guests. The departure was never more pleasant.

The landlord is friendly and provides a lot of useful information.

We expected an authentic, typical small inn with a cozy vibe, and we got a clean room with a comfortable bed, a lovingly prepared breakfast that was plenty and tasty—there’s no better way to start the day. On the departure day we left very early, and a breakfast package for take‑away was ready for us. It’s a good value for the price. Thank you for the service and stay, and best wishes!

Being close to the bus station and the quiet surroundings made it easy to visit Clausthal, Zellerfeld, Goslar, and Osterode—all reachable by bus. I’m not comfortable saying much more, but it’s clearly in need of renovation and the cleanliness could be improved.
