The place is amazing, the “chalets” are very beautiful and functional, and the calm dominates; it’s a unique experience. The location is 20 minutes from Funchal on a very winding road, and you’re often in fog.

The setting among nature is wonderful, offering solitude and tranquility, with changing landscapes throughout the day; clouds descend by evening and the atmosphere becomes even more impressive. The beds are comfortable and there’s a mini‑kitchen. A faint musty smell is present in the bathroom.

The location and the chalet were good, but there was a lot of wind over three nights, making it impossible to sleep and to stay outside.

The host, the location and the mountain hut were amazing; it was extremely peaceful and I would definitely return. The only improvement would be more cabinets or hangers for clothes and jackets, otherwise everything was perfect.

Everything was perfect – the chalet, the scenery, absolute calm, the host’s welcome, and the chance to hike superb trails in the park up to Pico do Areeiro without meeting anyone; and if you want to see the sunrise at Pico, it’s a 10‑minute drive. Nothing to add.
