The host was a friendly, kind woman; when I mentioned that I came to Aberdeen because I learned a Scottish song, she started singing “The Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen” and we sang together. Breakfast was generous with traditional dishes, including haggis. When I left, the train was about to depart, and since there were no other guests, she walked me to the station. She convinced me that staying in a Bed and Breakfast is the best way to experience the UK. I was a bit confused when Google Maps directed me to the back of the inn, and I felt a bit rustic when laundry was hanging outside the front door.

It isn’t a polished hotel, so don’t expect that; the building is aging and feels a bit tired, and the bathrooms are shared, but the value for money is excellent. It’s comfortable, clean, quiet, very well located in town, and I never found the bathrooms occupied, so it felt like a private bathroom. The cooked breakfast was superb. The owner is a lovely lady, very welcoming, helpful, and friendly. In my view this is a fantastic option and is a 10/10; I’ll definitely book again if I need to stay in Aberdeen.

The property manager was incredibly kind, but the place still needs a lot of fixing—our room’s doorknob fell off, the towels were thin and scratchy, and one toilet didn’t flush properly.
