The photos are overly flattering; in reality everything feels very old and, for Japanese standards, quite dirty.

I managed to check in on a tight schedule thanks to the staff waiting outside, so I didn’t get lost, but the hot spring was nice though a bit rushed because the schedule overlapped—especially in the morning when breakfast and the women’s early bath times clashed, preventing a relaxed soak.

The owner, the facilities, and breakfast were wonderful! Unfortunately we had no transport, so we mainly used the bus (and a taxi when the bus wasn’t running). That meant walking a bit to find a place where a taxi could pick us up or waiting until a bus came, which didn’t arrive until later in the morning. Otherwise, it was lovely!

The owner is the best host I’ve ever met—very helpful and friendly. The breakfast he prepared was awesome. The location is perfect for exploring the area, and the surrounding scenery is breathtaking. Highly recommend and I’ll definitely come back.

The host was incredibly kind, always available when I needed help and speaking English fluently. The room and the overall property were clean and relaxing, and the indoor/outdoor onsen was cute. Breakfast with tea was top. The walls are very thin, but as everywhere in Japan I have to mention it!
