After three years away, returning to Sri Lanka felt deeply special—and my first stay at Mati Gedara made it even more memorable. From the beautifully kept garden and elegant, comfortable rooms to the exquisite breakfast and genuinely warm hospitality of the staff, everything carried a wonderful sense of home. Mati Gedara gave me that rare feeling of being somewhere truly special, yet completely at ease. In fact, after just one day, it almost made me reconsider leaving Sri Lanka again. I had a wonderful stay at Mati Gedara Resort in Kandy. The stay was comfortable, welcoming, and truly memorable, but what stood out most was the excellent, authentic Sri Lankan food—full of traditional flavours and beautifully prepared. I was genuinely very happy with my experience and would gladly return again. I highly recommend Mati Gedara Resort to anyone looking for an authentic Sri Lankan stay and dining experience in Kandy. “After checking out the property, we decided NOT to stay because of NO air conditioning and NO private parking.”

The photos of the property on the website looked beautiful and look very much like a traditional village house. When I arrived and checked the place out, it was nothing like the photos on the website. The lighting was not bright, the pool was not kept well, NO air conditioning and NO private parking (as mentioned on website), vehicles have to be parked on the side of the road in front of the gated property.

There was nothing to like. The place is like an old ghost bungalow. There was no proper water flow. The fan was not properly working. No security at all. Cannot park cars inside.

The stay at Matigedara Villa was unforgettable! Surrounded by beautiful nature and a peaceful atmosphere, the elegant design makes it a perfect luxury retreat. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and fully equipped with modern amenities, offering excellent privacy ideal for a romantic getaway or special celebration. Friendly, professional staff and delicious food made everything even better. We look forward to visiting again!
