“Des propriétaires adorables et de bonnes idées, mais trop de choses à revoir”
We stayed four nights and five days at Cahaya Asah Resort. The positives: the owner and his wife are really lovely and the staff are attentive. There are also nice ideas: garden games, a zip line for kids and adults, pretty decorations like the dragon, friendly karaoke evenings… The pool is very clean and well maintained, and the nearby waterfall is beautiful. Unfortunately, the positives don’t cover the many negatives. The rooms weren’t cleaned daily. The resort is extremely isolated—which can be desirable—but there is no cell coverage. Wi‑Fi is essential, yet it works poorly and cuts out often. The electricity also trips regularly. The arrival is not very welcoming: a dirt path, poorly maintained surroundings, and the impression of arriving in a field or a work site rather than a resort. Luggage is even retrieved by tractor. A very bad surprise was the transfer from Genting. Booking says it is paid but doesn’t state the rate: we paid 300 MYR per trip for three people, 600 MYR round‑trip, about 127 €. Even more surprising is that in May 2025 the owner publicly stated that round‑trip transfers from Genting were offered for stays of at least three nights. We stayed four nights. On site, a sea taxi lists Genting–Mukut at 60 MYR per person, minimum four passengers, 240 MYR, while the resort is just next to Mukut. For a place so isolated and boat‑dependent, we feel the transfer should ideally be included, or at least charged at a reasonable rate. The waterfall is superb and the idea of having its natural pool with a slide is really nice.
