“Tranquil escape from modern life”
The cabins, tucked away in a beautiful little valley, are so peaceful and the perfect escape from modern life. They provide everything you need, and anything missing can be found in the little honesty shop at reception so you don’t have to trip to the supermarket—just restock before you leave! The shelters are only a 15‑minute drive from the start of the PR1 hike, or you can hike up to the start directly from your front door for an extra 3‑hour hike and 600 m elevation. If you want coffee, a drink, or a meal, there’s a great little café 5 minutes away with a small but excellent menu of various dishes and craft beer—highly recommended! Also, don’t miss the donkeys on the way. The owner, Dioclécio, is super friendly and helpful and always available on WhatsApp if you need anything. If you’re after a tranquil haven in the Madeira mountains, look no further. The only downside was that the kitchen was missing a few things, but it had the basics you need to cook a meal.
