Shire Heaven Villa

The house was beautiful and the owner was kind after a mishap between their dog and my shoe. The village beach, reachable by tuk‑tuk, is lovely and ideal for families with small children because it degrades slowly. The value for money was excellent. However, at check‑in we had to pay a bit more than the listed price, even though the surcharges weren’t advertised. The rooms have no window glass or screens, so to keep mosquitoes out we had to keep the blinds closed. The kitchen wasn’t equipped for cooking – it had some dishes and cutlery but no pots.

“Accomodation lovely, bed very comfortable, garden is gorgeous couldnt ask for better hosts x”

The place is in a fantastic spot, quiet and only a 10‑minute stroll to the beach, and the local wildlife—lizards and an endangered monkey on the neighbour’s roof—was a real treat. Changna, who speaks excellent English, shared a ton of local tips and made us feel right at home, while his wife showed us the lush garden and let us sample cinnamon, black pepper, and coconuts that grow there. The building, constructed in 1913 by Changna’s great‑granddad, stays cool under the midday sun, the bed is super comfy, and the air‑con works wonders. Everyone we met was friendly, and unlike the crowded resorts on the beach, the main town feels untouched and authentic, with a few great spots for food like Royal Hungry. The only downside was that the kitchen could have been cleaner and the Wi‑Fi was sometimes slow, but we found a great little café called Randys on Bentota high street that offered good Wi‑Fi, coffee, and omelettes.

“Friendly family, in a nice area with a short walk to the beach. Very accommodating”

The hosts were very accommodating, even giving us lifts around town, delivering fruit, and touring us their beautiful garden. The area is nice with a short walk to town, and there’s a well‑trained dog named Binco. The beds are comfy, the AC is good, and the bathroom facilities are excellent. We even spotted a monkey in the neighbouring trees. The Wi‑Fi was a bit spotty, but there’s a good café nearby where we could use it.

“Highly recommended”

The rooms were spacious, the environment clean, and the owner a seasoned professional running a huge acre property. I enjoyed the short stay. Thanks. The only thing that could improve is having a waste basket in the room.
