I stayed at a charming old‑fashioned hotel that felt like the vicarage I grew up in, and I appreciated its character. The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable, giving me a great night’s sleep. The shower warmed up nicely once it got going, and the breakfast was perfectly fine. However, the air in the pipes made the tap spit a bit of water at you before it settled down, which other guests might not enjoy. The shower also takes a little while to heat up and still has two separate taps for hot and cold water, but that didn’t bother me much. The only real annoyance was the Halloween clown with the motion sensor that cackles at unsuspecting guests as they walk into Reception; that should be removed before the next guest arrives.

The location is great, but the building needs maintenance.
