“It’s all about the location!”
The apartment was spacious, modern, bright, and spotless, and its location was spot‑on—just a short walk to the beach and an easy ride to Salem. The kitchen stocked plenty of pots and pans, and the ice maker was a lifesaver. The master bedroom felt very roomy, the bathroom was well‑equipped, and the washer and dryer made handling towels convenient. There was an abundance of closet space, and because we stayed late in the season we didn’t hear any neighbors. The living‑room furniture was comfortable. On the downside, the towel bar and shade in our bedroom were broken, and the coffee pot was inoperable; we only discovered this at 6am while rushing to catch a boat. Someone had swapped the original pot’s carafe for a tiny glass one, so I had to send a video to the owners—photos weren’t enough, and the video was too large to text or email. When we returned, a new 5‑cup coffee maker was waiting, which we appreciated, but the room was unlocked. The china coffee cups were chipped and dirty, though there were plastic ones available. The rug in the large bedroom was curled up and posed a tripping hazard, and the AC unit in that room wasn’t working properly, so we had to open the windows. There was no night light to help navigate from the master bedroom to the bathroom, and even the stove light was out. A manual covering fan operation, the Wi‑Fi password, and local recommendations would have been helpful. Lastly, the bed in the smaller room was too hard for our liking, which made the stay uncomfortable, though that’s a personal preference.
