Room in the heart of Carentan. The courtyard lighting was off when I arrived at night. The access staircase was awkward (high, uneven steps) and unclean (a cigarette butt on a step). The curtain wasn’t fixed. The room was tight, making it hard for two people! There was no way to walk around the bed, no privacy for the shower or toilet (a wobbly screen!). No towel changes in four days – drying without a towel rack.
