The location was perfect, close to a site that mattered to me. Alison guided me to all the spots I wanted to see and was indispensable. I didn’t have a phone or internet while traveling, so finding the property was tough, but that’s not a big issue for most people.

The bed was comfortable and clean, and we did have coffee‑making facilities, but that was about it. We had trouble locating the place, couldn’t contact anyone for directions, and the whole setup felt too rustic. The photos misled us into expecting a better experience. In the morning the exit gate was padlocked, and another resident had to give us the code to unlock it. We were told we’d been sent an email, but I certainly did not receive one (and I’ve searched).

I thought someone was joking! If I were 18 I might have stayed, but as we’re both in our eighties we tied a turtle and found a room in a nearby village instead. Our trip from Eastbourne was to visit the place my wife’s grandmother lived during the war; she was not happy seeing the shed and bed, and I never stayed there again.

It’s something different! I saw the owners respond to negative feedback and noticed improvements like added locks on the toilet and lamps in the room to help at night. The bed was comfy and I slept well. The place is hard to find on a map, but good communication before arrival meant I located it on the first try. It’s a bit more rustic than I expected; the key jammed in the door and for a while I thought I was locked in. Eventually I slept with the door unlocked, but the location still made me feel safe.

Loved the little hut, back to basics, beautiful countryside, beautiful hot showers and cabin was warm. That kitchen was not good to cook. X1 butane burner, worse in the wind, wash anything you wanted to use from underneath the bench as it was coated in cobwebs and dirt. Maybe there was a tea towel but I couldn't find it and byo bath/shower matt. Your paying for the experience
