We stayed on the way back to Houston with my family and the place was clean enough to sleep in, but it looks like some new centers are being built nearby and most hotels in the town are fully booked, so they’re charging a premium that isn’t worth it unless you have no other options.

The staff were really great and helpful, but the town of Childress is a nightmare—seedy game rooms, drugs and prostitution, crooked tow truck drivers, ugly surroundings, even the horses look bad. I was grateful for a room after hitting a deer while traveling through, and it’s the worst place to get stuck; definitely not safe for a woman, though the hotel itself felt safe.
