“Grand property at very fair price right on Marlborough main town square”
The grand property featured period details, including a protected staircase; the bed was comfortable with clean sheets, and the hostess was very kind and shared stories about Betjeman who once stayed there; the price was fair and the location on the town square was excellent.
It was pretty poor for the price, and there was not even a kettle in the room.
“This is a great place to stay if you’re staying a night or two in Marlborough. There are no facilities to have breakfast”
The location was wonderful, the place was clean, and the owners were very friendly.
“Pleasant stay for when you just want an overnight stop off place”
The location was perfect, right in the centre of town and easy to park; the room was very clean with fresh crisp sheets, towels, a comfy bed, and pillows, providing everything needed for an overnight work stay, but there was no kettle in the room to make a hot drink, though a bottle of sparkling water was available and many cafés were not too far away.
“Only choose this hotel if you have no other options.”
The bed turned out to be surprisingly comfortable, but the hotel basically has no staff, so any questions or needs leave you stranded. Every time we rang the mobile number on the door it was unreachable. The bed base was badly damaged and torn, the walls were dirty and stained for reasons unknown, the floorboards were loose and wobbly making the floor feel unstable, there was no stand‑up shower, and the ceiling plaster was cracked and loose. Overall, the building feels very old, tiered, and clearly needs investment.
