The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful, but the room felt very basic for a 5‑star resort, with no place to put luggage and an economy‑level bed; the music was loud, which is great if you’re after a party vibe but not if you’re seeking a relaxing beach stay.

The hotel is pretty, modern, and has very pleasant facilities; the rooms are comfortable, modern, and well kept, and I liked that, even though it’s an all‑inclusive resort, the size is compact enough that you can walk to almost every spot without trouble. The food selection is varied and, overall, the quality matches the price; room service works well and does its job. I want to single out Misha at the pool and Lupillo for their excellent service—they were definitely the highlight of our stay and made a huge difference. The Japanese restaurant deserves a special mention. The whole team was fantastic and delivered the level of service you’d expect from a Live Aqua brand. Carlos was incredible: he explained cocktail pairings with dinner and, since we were a group of six, offered a pack option with different dishes and drinks, allowing us to repeat what we liked. Even though the restaurant closed at 22:30, they warned us early enough so we could order more if we wanted, and they kept serving drinks until about 23:30, with the staff remaining charming and professional. That’s exactly the kind of service we expected throughout our stay. The main issue was the service, which was far below what you’d expect from a Live Aqua. In several restaurants, wait times were excessive, almost two hours; at the pool we waited about 30 minutes for a drink. At Carnivore they even told us to place the last drink order at 22:30 before our main dishes arrived. The drinks were uneven: many cocktails were watered down, basic items were missing from the bar, and at the pool they said there was no mint for a mojito. The minibar was very limited. The speakeasy, the only place open late, practically had no atmosphere because there was no DJ and no alternative offered. Moreover, over the weekend the ice machines broke down and it was nearly impossible to get ice, even the staff were annoyed. The most disappointing part was how complaints were handled: they told us the manager wasn’t there and at check‑out they promised someone would contact us, but never did. In short, good facilities and rooms, but service was very inconsistent and below expectations for its category. For the price we expected much more. The good moments were tied to specific staff, especially Misha and the Japanese restaurant team. Overall, the hotel has good facilities, modern, comfortable rooms, and decent food, but the service is far below what we anticipated from a Live Aqua. It feels like they’re trying to sell it as an accessible luxury concept, yet at that price there are other all‑inclusive resorts that have delivered considerably better service.

Devossion turned out to be a fantastic resort on the beach right in the middle of Playa del Carmen; the staff, food, views and everything else were outstanding, and surprisingly the gym was well equipped and maintained, which was a huge benefit for us. While the restaurants and food quality are outstanding, it got a bit repetitive at some point, especially for longer stays—I’d have liked more variation and rotating menus. In terms of activities, we did the “bike tour,” which was a big disappointment to say the least. Driving from the hotel to the pier 10 minutes away is not worth it.

I really enjoyed the property; the staff was amazing, and I will be returning. It was an amazing experience. I love the Starbucks coffee and the staff. There was amazing as well. The only thing I did not like was that there wasn’t a lot of food variety; I wish they had offered more breakfast options.
