“Great staff, great food”
The location and the staff were good. The rooms could use a bit of updating.

The hotel’s parent company’s computer system was down, which apparently happens at the end of each month because of unreliable IT at the parent company. Staff tried to check in all guests with paper printouts instead of the usual method. Because the hotel was confused about our reservation, the front desk woke us up and called at 11:30 p.m. to ask for our name. Later that night, someone came to do a very noisy repair in the room next to ours. We called the front desk to find out what was happening, but they had no idea. The repair person was banging on the wall and air ducts and claimed to be replacing a filter in the room, but why was that necessary in the middle of the night? Finally, downtown Minneapolis is very, very noisy at night, with people blasting music from cars and the sirens of police and ambulances. For $350/night, including tax and parking, we expected more. Won’t go back.

The staff were friendly. The bed linens had a musty smell and the room was not soundproof; you can hear cars all night, making it hard to sleep.

We were positioned near the elevators and it stayed quiet; our room was spotless and we enjoyed daily room service. Everything was GREAT! We would stay again!

The room looked nice and the staff were friendly. The breakfast setup was confusing; we had a credit but didn’t know where to use it, and the food we eventually got at the Joliet House was mediocre at best. The next morning’s room‑service breakfast was a little better, but my coffee was cold and everything felt overpriced. Also, the area isn’t very pleasant to stay in.
