Beautiful hotel and town, great place to stop on the Dales Way. Check‑in at 4 pm was an hour too late.

The spot in the village is spot‑on, but the welcome made us feel like we’d done something wrong. The room was tight and chilly; the heater kicked on mid‑night and made it stuffy. It was tidy and functional, though. Breakfast was mediocre—tinned mushrooms were a deal‑breaker and there was no fruit. At £145 a night it’s disappointing; I’d suggest staying elsewhere in the village.

The evening meal was solid with plenty of options, and the English breakfast was also good. Everything else worked fine, though the car park is a bit small.

Our room was cozy, clean, and nicely decorated, and the shower was excellent. The toilet seat needed replacing. Breakfast was okay; adding some good local sausages would be a nice upgrade.
