The location is close to everything and very quiet. The hostel is well equipped, but the internet barely works.

The hostel has an old‑school backpacker vibe that I really appreciated, with a nice rooftop and friendly, social volunteers who might invite you to explore Dahab if they like you. There’s no WhatsApp group, so everything happens organically. However, when I was there the place was a mess. There were more volunteers than guests, and the volunteers were always stoned, so nothing got done. The hostel wasn’t clean, breakfast wasn’t made, and no one was at reception, creating an uncomfortable situation. A major problem occurred when I left for Abou Galoum with the hostel manager and other guests/volunteers. The owner didn’t know I had already checked out and insisted I pay for the four nights I spent in Abou Galoum, even though everyone knew I was checking out, as I had made everyone late the day we left and my bags were in the storage room. The discussion escalated very quickly, with threats to call the police and very aggressive behavior toward me. Basically, four or five guys ganged up on one guest, yelling, threatening, and intimidating me. I was shaking and on the verge of tears, as it was the first bad experience I had during more than five weeks of traveling in Egypt. Finally, it wasn’t until another guest, who was visibly upset by the situation because she had witnessed everything, came to my defense and explained what had happened during checkout that they realized their mistake and what the manager had failed to do. I was offered an apology, but they still wouldn’t let me leave the premises until I left a good review, which felt strange and intimidating. Ultimately, the manager was fired, and a few days later I was offered two free nights as compensation for the inconvenience, but I declined because I didn’t want to return to that aggressive environment. Without a doubt, this was the worst hostel experience I’ve ever had.
