The colonial house is wonderful, it feels like stepping back in time. The room was clean, fully equipped, and located on a quiet alley in an ideal spot for city visits. The staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast was excellent.

Casa Arrona served as the ideal retreat after long days touring Oaxaca City. The hotel sits in a quiet, car‑free alley just steps from the main historic sites. The property is beautifully renovated, fusing traditional elements with art‑deco and modern touches to create a warm, rich atmosphere. It offers the rare mix of a prime location and genuine peace and quiet. Rooms are arranged like studio apartments around a shaded courtyard, each with its own entrance. Ours featured high ceilings, air conditioning, a small wardrobe and fridge, and a clever headboard‑desk design that kept clutter out of sight; the jewel‑toned bathroom added a playful splash of color. Breakfast was a highlight, made to order by chef Armando, with a different mix of continental and traditional Mexican dishes each morning, served at a communal table that made it easy to meet and chat with other guests. Check‑in was handled smoothly by Theresa, who offered us a welcome shot (or two) of local mezcal—a perfect pick‑up after a flight. We spent four wonderful nights here and will definitely return!
