The bathroom is small, has no ventilation, and smells like cannabis. The bedroom and kitchen are inconvenient.

The hostel feels like a real family vibe. The owner, May, and her family are just wonderful—smiling, curious, and ready to give travel tips or arrange shared rides to attractions. The room itself is great: a fridge in every room, solid AC, a fan, curtains on every bed, and a bedside lamp. The beds, pillows, and blankets are comfy, and there's plenty of storage space—shared lockers, a big under‑bed drawer you can lock, and a large closet under the bed for extra stuff. The shower has hot water, and the toilets always have toilet paper. A washing machine is available, and there's ample space to hang damp clothes. The location is superb—just a walk from the night market and the beach. The only downside is that sometimes there are ants in the bathroom.

If you’re considering May’s Hostel, just book it. It’s probably my favorite hostel in Thailand. It’s small, but you feel like staying with family. May, the owner, is lovely and helps whenever she can—she took me to the market, the train station, and even kept in touch with my parents when I had to go to the hospital. The other staff are family too. Mac, May’s cousin, is sweet, fun, and shows all sorts of games. He also plays guitar really well, so evenings are spent outside with everyone eating, listening to Mac play, and singing together. The rooms are good, with strong AC and a remote. The location is perfect, central with night markets, 7/11, and a pharmacy nearby. The beach is a 10‑minute walk. I’ll definitely come back!
