I was welcomed warmly in a very pleasant setting just half an hour's drive from Sidmouth, where I performed at the folk festival. The room was comfortable after each busy day and the cooked breakfast was excellent, preparing me for the day ahead. Nothing to criticise—everything was good!

We went to this location for a wedding, less than a 5 minute drive from the venue in a lovely area, very close by, peaceful and quiet. Adrian & Doug were accommodating, friendly and welcoming, really went the extra mile to make sure we had a nice time, even offered me a lift to pick my car up from the wedding. They made a lovely fresh breakfast for us in the morning—a full English and yogurt bowl 10/10 all round. The dining table was set up beautifully! The bed was so comfortable I had an amazing night's sleep! A truly lovely stay and would highly recommend to anyone. Nothing!

Adrian and Doug are friendly, wonderful people and exceptional hosts, bringing a true, authentic bnb experience that seems so rare these days. Splatthayes is a beautiful, wonderfully decorated property with sprawling gardens, each room furnished to a very high quality with no corners cut. We stayed in the ground floor room, which was nicely spacious; the bed and pillows were very comfortable and inviting, the bathroom likewise well-equipped and spacious, and everything wonderfully clean. It was wholly an amazing stay, with both Splatthayes and Adrian and Doug as hosts delivering a very high quality, personal experience, and their English breakfast (and the 'Splatthayes special') rivalling brunch from the very best! We originally chose Splatthayes based on its location relative to a wedding venue we were attending (Deer Park) and the very agreeable pricing, but we're now looking forward to our next stay at Splatthayes for the whole experience Adrian and Doug have masterfully created. The location (Buckerell) is fairly isolated, which might be exactly what you're looking for, but it does mean you’ll need to rely on driving or taxis to access places further afield like Sidmouth.
