The room was clean and the pub was nice, but there was no food available and the stairs to the bar were inconvenient.

We had to stay close to Huddersfield on our return from the Lake District, so this place fit the bill. My son had a room to himself, and my wife and I shared an adjacent double. Parking is limited, but we were lucky to find a spot – just be careful not to park where they forbid it. A friendly lady and some locals welcomed us at the pub, where we had a few drinks and ate, which worked out well. The portions were large, service was good, and the price was decent. Overall we had a pleasant stay, enjoyed a nice meal and a few drinks, and parked just outside in the car‑park, so we left happy. The only downside was that we were at the front of the building, a bit noisy at night because it was karaoke night (there was a lot of singing), and the road into downtown Huddersfield was busy, but it was acceptable for us.

The hotel was convenient for my needs and the staff were friendly, accommodating my very late check‑in. The description mentioned a possible pet surcharge, but I wasn’t told the amount until I was asked to pay an extra £20 before entering my room, which felt opaque. The room was adequate for sleeping, yet there was a noticeable damp patch above the wardrobe in room 3 where the wallpaper was peeling, and the problem seemed to extend into the bathroom with discoloration on the sealant near the ceiling – likely a significant roof leak. No mould was visible, but the issue needs fixing before it worsens.

A warm welcome set the tone, the room was just right and well kept, and the ale was nice; it was less than half a mile from my destination the next morning.
