“Bon séjour”
Typical hotel with a pool and breakfast, plus areas to unwind; the room was decent. A touch of cleanliness was missing.

Convenient location, staff very friendly. The facilities were very spartan, but that was already known.

The staff were lovely, and the unheated pool felt refreshing after a hot day of exploring, while the breakfasts varied daily. The building itself is a fun maze, with rooms and dining spots tucked throughout, even up high for breezes. Wi‑Fi worked fine. Beds have netting, and most rooms have both a floor and a ceiling fan. Finding the place can be tricky because Google Maps can’t navigate the narrow paths between buildings. Showers only deliver cold water, which is fine in heat but can be jarring in cooler weather. All of Lamu is serviced by donkeys, so donkey droppings are everywhere, attracting flies that bother you when eating; the fly problem is everywhere in Lamu, not just at Jannat House.

Good location. A charming 18th‑century house with plenty of character and many small terraces and a rooftop that’s perfect for relaxing. The pool area is a real bonus. Staff are charming and always attentive to any needs. Breakfast is complete, and there’s on‑site light dining (remember to order ahead). The room and linens are clean, and housekeeping is regular. Overall good value for money. The room could use some upkeep and a refresh; the bedding and pillows are too firm. The room lacks practical accessories—no nightstand, fewer power outlets, and poorer lighting. The bathroom is similar: no hot water, though it’s not a major issue. We spent very little time in the room during the day.

Well laid out. The kitchen area needed a privacy curtain, but once that’s added it will be quite nice.
