We were surrounded by a quiet countryside vibe that really captured the essence of rural Japan, and there were no complaints to mention.
“Un endroit parfait pour se ressourcer et profiter du calme à la campagne.”
Tout !
“Wonderful location, lovely room, helpful owner”
Overall, there are a few standout things about this place. The location is absolutely gorgeous, it's a little town in the mountains where everywhere you look is just stunning. Other than that, the owner is fantastic, willing to answer any questions and helps with getting to and from the guesthouse - which is quite helpful given it's a few Ks away from the nearest train station. It is in a very small town, which means that there aren't any convenience stores, and aren't many restaurants around. If you're prepared to walk a little bit that's not much of a problem, but if you're sick (as I was) or have issues with walking you may have to buy dinner in advance. Otherwise the only other thing of note is the staircase up into the guesthouse. It shouldn't be an issue for most people, but if you have trouble with stairs you may want to be careful
“Lovely host, stay is a work of love. We booked an extra night based on other reviews and are glad we dud.”
The place was calm and beautiful, and the town itself was lovely, but having a car would have been better because the stairs to the room are steep, which could be tough for people with mobility issues; we were in our 60s‑70s and managed fine.
“Cozy getaway in a beautiful space & town.”
This ryokan made for a flawless escape, with meticulous attention to every detail that left us impressed, a host who was warm and helpful throughout our visit, a town that charmed us, and a peaceful atmosphere that let us unwind; the hinoki bath was a particular highlight, and we’re eager to return.
