The location was perfect and the apartment was very quiet. It was a bit warm in the room despite the air conditioning.

As an experienced traveler and huge fan of Italy, I can only say I thoroughly enjoyed my week-long stay in this enchanting, perhaps lesser-known part of the country. For me, as a solo traveler, the accommodation can make or break a holiday. On this occasion, I was fortunate to stay at Ai Marinai, located in the heart of bustling Taranto, and you wouldn’t believe how cool and comfortable it felt inside. From the start it felt like home, thanks to the attentive host Patrizia. My room and bed were spacious and comfortable, kept at the perfect temperature, and I slept soundly every night, even better than at home! A fresh continental breakfast was served al fresco on the communal balcony, with every effort made to accommodate my schedule, always served with the warmest smiles by the lovely Tamara. Days out were my own or ones Patrizia kindly suggested, and she was always on hand to help and advise on anything big or small throughout my visit. Many balmy evenings were spent on the balcony, enjoying the sunset and the magnificent twilight views of the famous castle illuminations, either in quiet contemplation, chatting with other guests, or asking Patrizia for recommendations and learning about Italian culture—she’s truly a wealth of information and an absolute joy to meet and talk with. In short, I found Ai Marinai safe, homely, friendly, comfortable, clean, well air‑conditioned, with speedy and consistent Wi‑Fi, perfectly located between the old and new town, convenient for the local beach, and a preferable alternative to a hotel, especially for solo travelers. Seven nights flew by, and I somehow missed my planned eleventh‑hour guided tour of the famous castle because of a clash with local festivities and a VIP visit, so I now have the perfect excuse to return to Ai Marinai… Nothing to add.

The apartment is gorgeous and close to everything—shops, restaurants, cafes—and the old town is just a few minutes’ walk away. Breakfast was lovely, and you can sit on the balcony, eat, and enjoy the sea view. The building has an elevator, and the apartment comes fully equipped with all amenities and tasteful décor. The housekeeper was warm, friendly, and went out of her way to help, even assisting with luggage. The host arranged a taxi for me from the bus terminal. I would definitely stay again!
