“Great find.”
The themed house was lovely throughout, the host was a fabulous lady full of character, breakfast was great, and there was no real downside; the roads outside were busy but the windows shut well kept the noise down.
“Hosts were amazing and hotel felt like a small community”
The hosts were amazing, very nice and welcoming, I can’t recommend the school house enough! The rooms can be loud because of thin walls, but that’s to be expected.
“Excellent break on a long journey north”
The owners gave a warm welcome, the room was simple and comfortable with quirky school memorabilia, and the freshly cooked English breakfast was excellent.
“A hidden gem of a Bed and Breakfast.”
Occasionally you find a gem like this; after staying at the Park Royal and Premier Inn in Stretton, I checked the Old School House reviews and decided to try it, and I’m glad I did because I’ll never stay in a bland chain again when there are amazing B&Bs like this to rest at night. The Old School House is a lovely building with spotless rooms and bathrooms, furnished with period furniture and antiques that bring back childhood memories, and Helen’s breakfast was cooked with love, set out on a table for eight with everything perfect. If you’re passing through Stretton, look opposite the Cat and Lion Hotel and you’ll find this gem and a hostess who makes you feel at home. The only downside is the parking: it can fit four medium cars, otherwise you must use the Cat and Lion car park across the road.
“Done the job”
It’s all about the location; nothing else nearby where I needed to be the next day. I had a front room that was lovely and comfy, but there was a lot of road noise, something I’m not used to, and I couldn’t open the window so the room was hot; two fans were supplied. The car park is tight but can hold six medium to small cars; a big SUV will be tight.
