“Nice room but outside lacked any cleanliness.”
We have mixed feelings about our stay. The room was lovely, tastefully decorated, comfortable, and had the best hairdryer. But the daily housekeeping never happened, no fresh water was provided, and the promised “every two day” room service didn’t happen either; we had to ask. This was the most expensive of our two‑month stays in Sri Lanka and the one that didn’t offer breakfast, but the photos made us think it would be amazing. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. The restaurant/sun‑bed area was dirty, with bits of rubbish and plastic bottles left around and not cleared by the staff, who spent most of their time sitting around doing nothing. It just felt grubby and uninviting. We mentioned our concerns to Manoj, the manager, who seemed grateful for the feedback and said he took it on board. The lack of cleanliness around the seating and sun‑bed area and the staff just sitting around doing nothing were annoying, and it was a bit intimidating having to walk past men playing cards to reach the outdoor fresh‑water shower.
