The hotel’s location is fine, but the value for money is absolutely terrible. For the price, you’d expect something better. At least there should be a bottle of water in the tiny room; apparently, you can’t have everything.

The Hartmanns in Pegnitz was our first stop on a cycling tour through the Nuremberg region, and I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly an automated hotel runs in the middle of Pegnitz. The décor was tasteful, with a turquoise hue that reminded me of Motel One, which our kids liked. We accessed our room effortlessly via a link sent by email and WhatsApp. Mr. Hartmann kindly explained over the phone where we could store our bikes for the night, which was great; there were also sockets in the storage room for our e‑bike batteries, so we didn’t have to charge them in the room. The only downside was the noise from the street when we opened the windows to ventilate, but we were exhausted from our ride and didn’t mind too much. The family room was spacious enough for the four of us.
“Alles in allem super!”
Self‑check‑in worked well and the location was good. The lower edge of the shower enclosure wasn’t sealed, letting water run up to the door. We immediately laid a doormat to absorb it. For someone who doesn’t mind a little damage to the door, it might not be a big issue.
I found the hotel practical and clean, with basic but sufficient furnishings for everything needed. The room access worked only through a mobile phone, which didn’t always work for us, but luckily someone from the front desk was present to help.

Check‑in was contactless and not entirely straightforward via the app, which you had to download first.
