The place was calm, the staff were very welcoming, the reef in front of the hotel and the sea turtles were a highlight, but there was no excursion agent so you have to arrange trips yourself in advance, which is a minor inconvenience.

The hotel sits right on the sea, has its own beach, a superb dive centre, a wide food selection with great quality, and the staff are always very friendly. The room was quiet because few tourists were around, and the dive sites were fantastic. The musical entertainment was a problem – the singer was a disaster, more like a cat’s whimper, the repertoire kept repeating, so I’d rather have had a computer playlist; it was unavoidable if you wanted a drink at the bar, but otherwise you could avoid the show.

The week at Lahami Bay was absolutely fantastic! The resort looks immaculate, both inside and out, and keeping the desert gardens green is no easy task—great job to the gardeners. The food is superb, plentiful, and made with high‑quality ingredients. Chef Leonardo and the Egyptian chefs are meticulous, even measuring food temperatures to ensure everything is just right. The dining and bar staff, led by the tireless Said, Sharif, and Momo, are friendly, professional, and upbeat without being intrusive. Guests are always the focus of the restaurant, bar, and beach teams, receiving attentive care and constant smiles. “Franco Rosso” staff also perform their duties excellently and professionally; special thanks to marine biologist Matilde, who guides guests through the underwater wonders, Tig, who helps everyone stay fit, Lia, whose beautiful voice lifts spirits, and Asia and Alice, who with energy and passion lead a wonderful all‑female team—great girls! Omar is the cherry on top: he offers Italian or Bedouin coffee, tea, and conversation in his shop, which feels like a true lounge and a place to buy souvenirs. Many Italian guests return to Lahami year after year… I’ve finally understood why: it truly deserves it! Happy holidays to anyone who chooses it. I hate the air conditioning, but in August nights you have to turn it on a bit in the room and it’s somewhat noisy.

I’ve been coming back to this place for the fifth time, and it’s clearly slipping further, especially after Covid. The spot used to be fantastic for the barrier reef—truly unique on the Red Sea—but now it looks almost unrecognizable. The hotel seems less cared for and the staff are stretched thin, probably because there aren’t many guests; it could be wonderful, yet they seem to do everything to push tourists away. For example, the pools are nice but only semi‑clean, opening at 10 am and shutting at 6 pm, which feels absurd and disrespectful to paying guests. The food has dropped dramatically compared to a decade or so ago, and the activities are now barely a flicker.
