“Wonderful”

We had a wonderful stay at Ritigala Hideaway; the property sits in a beautiful and peaceful natural setting, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and cozy, and the hospitality was excellent. We also had an amazing elephant safari and really enjoyed the cooking class, which made our stay even more special and memorable. Everything was well organized and we truly enjoyed our experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with great experiences!

“Peace of mind at an affordable price”

The place is very nice and quiet even though it's not too far from the main road. Very easy to access and the host is extremely welcoming. The owner (Ruwan) has a wealth of experience in hospitality, working for 5‑star hotels in Sri Lanka as well as Dubai and the United Kingdom. He understands what foreign travelers are looking for and is catering to those needs with enthusiasm. This is a perfect place for serious nature lovers and people that enjoy peace and quiet.

Ideal location to explore the ruins in the national park and go on a safari. The home‑made dinner was excellent—presentation, introduction, taste. Just great. Everything has a price tag, implicitly and without being mentioned. Juices being offered after a hike, bicycles given to explore the nearby ruins,

“Sehr erholsam, eine Empfehlung - etwas teuerer als andere”

The spot is perfect, away from the tourist crowds, and we could bike to the historic site (rental was 1500 RS plus 10 % per day, good quality for the region); we rode for two days, explored the area and the lake east of the site – highly recommended. The historic place feels more like a jungle trail, the $6 US entry fee seems steep, but you can see several peaceful monkey species, although the path to the summit is off‑limits (the elephant fence can be crossed). The monkeys are shy and interesting. Food was tasty, priced fairly, and they accommodated diet requests; even hangers were provided, and the balcony was nice. The room lacked items such as a kettle, contrary to the description, but we didn’t need it since we ordered tea in the afternoon.

“Dans la nature à Ritigala”

Our stay at this charming hotel was a true delight. Nestled in the heart of nature, we were surrounded by the sounds of birdsong and the gentle rustle of leaves. The family who runs the hotel were incredibly kind and helpful, and their home-cooked meals were a highlight of our trip. The location was perfect for birdwatching, and we even spotted a few species we'd never seen before. If I have one criticism, it's that the prices were a bit steep for what we got.
