I stayed here again and this time got the room with the private balcony, which was absolutely amazing. Matina welcomed us once more; she’s a fantastic lady—always cheerful, funny, and incredibly helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, and the cleaner was fantastic; nothing was too much trouble. The steps up to the property might challenge some people, but the view makes it worth it. Friends staying elsewhere on Hydra enjoyed a view that was by far the best, letting us just sit and watch port life. It was great, and I hope to return next year.

Onar offers a beautiful setting and tasteful décor. The room is spacious with windows on three sides. As others have mentioned, it’s 150 steps up from the port, so it’s best suited for those with good cardiovascular health. The room comes with a nice selection of coffee, toasts, and jams. The shower is warm and has good pressure. Views from the room and the shared terrace are stunning—you can see port activity from a slight distance. It’s not completely quiet—too close to the port for that—but far enough to relax. The hosts were friendly and available. My only suggestions would be a bit more of a welcome or orientation, and a sign outside indicating the location. Also, the mattress wasn’t very firm, but that’s a matter of taste or spinal health.

A charming spot to stay; Matina was friendly, quick to reply, and helpful. The hotel has many steps, but the view makes it worthwhile. I’d definitely return.
