Thanks for the welcome, we were greeted warmly and enjoyed two excellent nights.
The welcome was warm. Breakfast was very good, with homemade jam and honey. The host was attentive and always ready to help, giving us great tips for local walks 🫶
“This is not what we paid for...property is not ready for paying customers”
Breakfast was fine. The host was friendly and went out of her way to greet us. We booked a twin room in the main house with ensuite, furnishings, and the usual amenities. We had reserved it weeks in advance as part of a 7‑day bicycle tour with my teenage son. The property was on a steep, hard‑to‑find drive. We expected the main house, but the host took us to an outbuilding behind the main house, next to a barn. There was no wifi, so we couldn’t compare our booking to what was offered. The outbuilding was unfinished: downstairs had a sofa bed with no furnishings, upstairs a double bed. The building still looked under construction, with unfinished surfaces, rough splintery door jambs, open concrete, and a concrete ceiling. One new door still had the door label residue and wouldn’t open. The toilet wasn’t anchored to the floor, and there was no separate toilet area, so privacy was lacking. The downstairs “bed” was a fold‑out couch with only a duvet cover, a top sheet, and one lounge pillow. Building supplies, excess concrete, wood bits, and debris littered the outbuilding, and the view from the plate‑glass window showed a messy yard; ten metres away was an open barn full of storage bits, machinery, and sewage hoses. To cross the threshold you had to walk over a wooden plank. A huge tomato plant was inside the room. The stairs to the first floor had only one screw in each stair support, making them feel unsafe. The downstairs room was stuffy with no windows, and the only way to ventilate it (no fans were provided) was to leave the plate‑glass door open all day and night, which was a security risk. We noticed a man living in a trailer behind the outbuilding, less than 25 metres away; he was a lodger. We didn’t feel safe.
“Le charme de l’ancien avec le confort moderne. L’accueil chaleureux.”
The décor and comfort, plus the hospitality.
Very warm welcome.
