“Amazing staff, but just not good value for money”
The staff were absolutely amazing – especially security guard Elijah, the receptionists and everyone in the restaurant, except for the interim manager who was always scrolling on his phone and seemed generally disinterested. The rooms were spacious and the breakfast was good. I liked that there was a gym. The restaurant was well‑priced and tasty. However, paying over 500 PGK a night for the most basic room meant the hotel didn’t offer good value. PNG is expensive, but even by PNG standards it wasn’t worth the money. The rooms look good in the pictures, but in reality they’re poorly executed: power sockets are placed diagonally, the toilets are rusting, and there’s no hot water. This might be acceptable at 300 PGK a night, but not over 500 PGK. We went to In Wewak Boutique Hotel instead, which has a pool, a view and the other services Tang Mow has. We missed the food and the staff from Tang Mow, though – they were so amazing we genuinely felt guilty leaving them.
