The view from my window was great, but waking up in a very cold room and showering in a bathroom that offered very little privacy from outside eyes left me hoping for a satisfying breakfast, and I was disappointed: one slice of toast, an undercooked fried egg, a pile of mushrooms straight out of a tin, lukewarm beans, and a slice of bacon.

Our stay at this guest house was our favorite during our UK trip – a beautiful place with many lovely personal touches and hosts who were truly welcoming, an excellent home‑cooked breakfast and coffee with a stunning view, and the town was close enough to walk into for an evening meal, offering more stunning views.

The place seemed chaotic, like a mix of Fawlty Towers and Jane Austen, and the breakfast was okay with good produce but served in a teacup without a saucer, no teaspoons, and no napkins; it was just a cooked breakfast with no cereals or fruit juice, and we just felt uncomfortable staying there.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, our room was very comfortable and the breakfast very good, and the location was very good with just a short walk into town, and we didn't find anything we didn't like.
