“The staff were a bit rude and I found it quite frustrating that there was a party the same night, of which we were place”
The property is beautiful, but the rooms feel a bit old.

The location has great views, is close to local towns, and the building looks lovely; the staff were amazing. The room was clean overall and the price, with breakfast included, wasn’t terrible. However, the hotel feels a bit underwhelming once you’re settled in. The sink in our bathroom filled and wouldn’t drain because of a blockage, and in the morning the shower wouldn’t get hot, just staying warm. Breakfast was nice but didn’t meet expectations; the continental options were poor and we had to pay extra for any coffee other than filter coffee.

The staff were excellent and extremely professional at all times. I had a few stimulating conversations with the owner/manager, and I’ll be staying again because this hotel is a hidden gem. The rooms, food, reasonably priced drinks, and of course the staff who all went those important few yards extra.

There was nothing to dislike. The room was clean, very comfortable, and had plenty of space, and again there was nothing to dislike.

The hotel sits in a dignified historic building beside the river, updated to meet modern standards. I liked how spacious and quiet my room was, the room was clean, and the on‑site restaurant offered an imaginative menu. Its location is convenient for visiting Selby Abbey and close to the M18 and A1(M), making it a good stop for travelers between London and Scotland. On the downside, there isn’t much to do nearby, and the hotel lacks a lift for moving luggage.
